McCarville who came to Iowa from Darlington, Wisconsin. Attended rural school in Buena Vista county, Sacred Heart high school, Fort Dodge and graduated from Creighton University School of Law, Ph.B. 1925, LL.B. 1927. Married Helen C. Sabatka, 1932; two daughters, Mary Alice and Ruth Eileen. Justice of Peace, Wahkonsa township 1930-1948. Associated in law practice with Herbert R. Bennett. Chairman Webster county Republican Central Committee. Member of Iowa Commission on Interstate Cooperation; Supreme Council, Loyal Order of Moose, former District Deputy of Knights of Columbus. Member of Izaak Walton League, Lions club, B. P. O. E., U. C. T., C. O. F., Fort Dodge Chamber of Commerce, Webster County Farm Bureau, Webster County and American Bar Associations. Elected to Senate in 1948.
