Estherville Emmet County Republican Max M. Soeth, born Feb. 26, 1900, at Storm Lake, Iowa. Moved to Emmet county in 1913. Served in World War I and was discharged from the regular army at the age of 19. Finished high school education at Buena Vista College. Started farming in 1924, Charter member and director of D. E. K. Rural Electric Cooperative and has been a director of the Humboldt generating plant. A member of the Farm Bureau. Belongs to the Masonic, Consistory, a Knight Templar and the Shrine. Member of the Presbyterian church. Married Opal Hoffman of Storm Lake in 1924 (deceased). Have two daughters, Shirley Soeth a student at Iowa State Teachers College and Mrs. Robert Nichols of Des Moines, Iowa. At present engaged in farming at Estherville, Iowa. Serving first term.
