Family consists of two children: James, professor of economics, Amherst College, and Phyllis, instructor of history at the State University of Iowa. Member of the Congregational church, past president of the Newton Woman's Club, Y.W.C.A., League of Women Voters, and Jasper county Child Welfare Association. Member of the Red Cross and Community Chest boards. Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine and member of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary educational sorority. President of Iowa League of Women Voters, secretary of Iowa Child Welfare Committee and Iowa Legislative Council, and treasurer of Council for Better Education. Serving first term.
