CLIFFORD N. NYSTROM

MR. PRESIDENT: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public service of the late Clifford N. Nystrom, begs leave to submit the following memorial:

Clifford N. Nystrom was born in Boone, Iowa, February 12, 1902, son of Jacob F. and Nancy Nystrom.

He died of a heart attack on Wednesday, August 22, 1962.

Mr. Nystrom was educated in the Boone public schools and business college.

He served an apprenticeship on the Chicago-Northwestern Railway; entered the oil business in 1934; engaged in farm equipment retailing and at the time of his death operated the Nystrom Motors in Boone.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions Club, Elks Club, Masonic Lodge and the Shrine.

Mr. Nystrom served his community well in many civic ways. He served six terms as Boone County Republican Chairman, fair board director, Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Deacon of the First Baptist Church, also serving as moderator.

He served two terms in the House of Representatives, the Fifty-third and the Fifty-fourth General Assemblies, and was elected to the Senate in 1960, serving in the Fifty-ninth General Assembly.

Mr. Nystrom was maried to Agnes L. Smiley in 1921.

Mrs. Nystrom passed away January 16, 1963.

He is survived by two sons, Jack of Boone, and Duane of Tucson, Arizona; also two grandchildren, Eric John of Boone, and Elisa Ann of Tucson.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Sixtieth General Assembly of Iowa: That in the passing of the Honorable Clifford N. Nystrom the state has lost a valuable, loyal and honored citizen, and by this resolution tenders its sincere sympathy to the members of his family.

Be It Further Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be spread on the Journal of the Senate and that the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to forward an enrolled copy of this resolution to each of his sons.
