Republican 23rd Senatorial District Cedar, Jones and Jackson Counties. Born in Massillon township, Cedar county, Iowa, July 15, 1887, son of Ernest and Catherine Schluter. Was graduated from the Clarence high school. Received B.A. degree from the State University of Iowa, including one year study in the college of law. Served as deputy clerk of the District Court two years. Later operated farms and lumber business. Married Myrtle Brink, Clarence, Iowa, in 1915. Completed study of law and admitted to practice in 1931. Served as Republican county chairman of Cedar county for eight years. Member of Cedar county and Iowa State Bar associations. Elected to Iowa Senate in 1942 to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator M. C. Hamiel. Re-elected in new 23rd District in 1944.
