Acted as bank clerk and later as assistant cashier in the Shambaugh Savings bank. Was school director 20 years; township clerk 20 years; township trustee five years; Triple-A chairman three years; president Page County Farm Bureau six years; chairman of the Page County Selective Service Board four years. Has lived on present farm for 28 years. Married to Jennie Elizabeth Duncan on November 22, 1911. Father of five children; Kenneth, a county extension director; Wilma, a senior at Iowa State college; Lyle, operator of home farm; Marvin, discharged from the United States Army in December after two years service in the Pacific; Marilyn, at home attending rural school. Charter member of the Page County Aberdeen Angus Breeders' Association and one of four members of the firm, Pagemere Angus Farms. Affiliated with the United Presbyterian church of Clarinda. Serving second term.
