Clarinda Page County Republican. Born in Page county, May 29th, 1890. Attended rural schools in Page county and later the Amity college at College Springs, Iowa. Acted as bank clerk and later as assistant cashier in the Shambaugh Savings bank. Was school director 20 years; township clerk 20 years; township trustee five years; Triple-A chairman three years; president Page County Farm Bureau six years; chairman of the Page County Selective Service Board four years. Has lived on present farm for 28 years. Married to Jennie Elizabeth Duncan on November 22, 1911. Father of five children; Kenneth, a county extension director; Wilma, a senior at Iowa State college; Lyle, operator of home farm; Marvin, discharged from the United States Army in December after two years service in the Pacific; Marilyn, at home attending rural school. Charter member of the Page County Aberdeen Angus Breeders' Association and one of four members of the firm, Pagemere Angus Farms. Affiliated with the United Presbyterian church of Clarinda. Serving second term.

Father of five children: Kenneth, a first lieutenant in Marine Corps, Wilma, attending Iowa State College, Lyle, managing home farm, Marvin, who has just entered into the service, and Marilyn, at home attending grade school. Charter member of Page County Aberdeen Angus Breeders' Association and one of four members of the firm, Page Mere Angus Farms. Affiliated with United Presbyterian Church of Clarinda. Serving first term.
