Sioux City Woodbury County Republican Born at Charter Oak, Crawford county, Iowa, 1895, the son of Carl August and Hilma Carlson. With his parents he moved to Worthington, Minn., in 1896, to Sioux City in 1900, and to farm in Woodbury county in 1902. In 1917, he enlisted in the United States Air Service, serving nine months overseas with the 838th Aero Squadron attached to the Royal Air Force. Received an honorable discharge December 26, 1918, at Camp Dodge, at which time he returned to Sioux City and entered the automobile business. Later he engaged in the oil business. He married Esther Carlson in 1922, and is the father of two children; one daughter, Dorothy L. (deceased), and one son, Robert W. He is a member of the First Covenant church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Eagle Lodge, Lions Club, Moose Lodge, and Scandinavian Societies. Served in the 49th, 50th, 50th Extra, and 51st General Assemblies.
