THOMAS L. KUHN
MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public service of the late Thomas L. Kuhn, begs leave to submit the following memorial:
Thomas L. Kuhn, legislator and servant of the public, was born at Hepburn in Page county, Iowa, in 1892. He passed away at the St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri, on October 15, 1952, at the age of sixty years. He received his education in the public schools at Lenox and Bedford, Iowa.
He was married in 1911 to Clara Daugherty of Bedford, Iowa, who passed away in September, 1944. To this union were born three daughters and four sons: Mrs. Arthur King, Blockton, Iowa;·Mrs. Kenneth Olson, Seattle, Washington, and Mary A. Kuhn, now deceased. Also, Thomas L. Kuhn, Jr., Seattle, Washington; James A. Kuhn,·Seattle; Kenneth D. Kuhn, who died in service, and Charles P. Kuhn, now deceased. A second marriage was consummated in 1945 to Mae McCurdy of Bedford, Iowa, who now survives.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He served his country as county auditor and clerk of Taylor county for eight years and worked for the state auditor in the homestead department. Four years ago he was named county assessor of Taylor county, in which capacity he was serving at the time of his death.
In 1941 Honorable Thomas L. Kuhn was elected to represent Taylor county in the House of Representatives. He served in the Fiftieth Session of the General Assembly of Iowa.
Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Fiftyfifth General Assembly of Iowa, That in the passing of the Honorable Thomas L. Kuhn, the state has lost a valued and honorable citizen, and the House would tender, by this resolution, its sincere sympathy to his beloved family in their great sorrow.
Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
