CARROLL A. LANE
Mr. Speaker: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character, and public service of the late Honorable Carroll A. Lane, begs leave to submit the following memorial:
Mr. Lane was born on May 9th, 1905. He married Mildred Johnston and they had two children, Jon Allen and Lynda Carol, and a foster daughter, Patricia Margaret.
Mr. Lane attended rural school and high school in Jasper County. He graduated in agricultural economics from Iowa State College. As an active civic leader, Lane participated in a number of civic and business organizations, including the Masonic and B.P.O.E. lodges, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. Lane entered the theatre circuit business in 1936.
Mr. Lane was a member of the Republican Party and served as State Representative for Carroll County from 1943-1946. He served as Secretary of the Senate from 1951-1956, 1961-1964, and 1969-1972.
Carroll A. Lane died on October 5, 1995.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-eighth General Assembly of Iowa, That in the passing of the Honorable Carroll A. Lane, the State has lost an honored citizen and a faithful and useful public servant, and the House by this Resolution would express its appreciation of his service.
Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
