Woodbury County
Sioux City Woodbury County Republican. Born at Charter Oak, Crawford county, Iowa, 1895, the son of Carl August and Hilma Carlson. With his parents he moved to Worthington, Minnesota, in 1896, to Sioux City in 1900 and to farm in Woodbury county in 1902. In 1917 he enlisted in the United States Air Service, serving nine months overseas with the 838th Aero Squadron attached to the Royal Air Force. Received an honorable discharge, December 26, 1918, at Camp Dodge, at which time he returned to Sioux City and entered the automobile business. Later engaged in the oil business, in which he is now engaged. Married Esther Carlson in 1922 and has one son, Robert W. Member of the First Covenant church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Eagle Lodge, and Scandinavian Societies. Served in the 49th and 50th general assemblies.
