HONORABLE F. E. HYETT

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to choose a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public services of the late F. E. Heytt, begs leave to submit the following:

Frank E. Hyett was born in Batesville, Ohio, in 1868, and came to Iowa when he was a young man. He worked at various jobs and finally obtained a position with the Hawkeye Lumber Company at Oskaloosa, Iowa. He worked for this company for a good many years and finally became the manager. He was a partner in and operated the Hyett Synhorst Lumber yard at Oskaloosa for seven years and then moved to Wright, Iowa, where he purchased a lumber yard and elevator and remained until his death on March 23, 1940.

Mr. Hyett was a member of the Presbyterian church at Oskaloosa for over forty years and always devoted considerable time to church work and to various civic movements. He was a member of the Y. M. C. A. board and the Chamber of Commerce, the K. P. Lodge and was a councilman for a number of years.

He served the state of Iowa and Mahaska county well and faithfully as a member of the Forty-eighth General Assembly.

Mr. Hyett is survived by his widow.

Therefore, Be It Resolved, That in the passing of Frank E. Hyett, the state of Iowa mourns the loss of one of its honored and distinguished citizens, and

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House as a commemoration of the life and worth of the deceased and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to Mrs. Hyett.

HENRY WICHMAN,
