In the course of his duties during these three successive terms, he was placed in positions of responsibility as chairman of the Fish and Game Committee for six years, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee, the Agricultural Committee, the Social Security Committee, the Conservation Committee, the Mines and Mining Committee and the National Defense Committee. On two occasions his was the honor and privilege of serving as chairman of the Conference Committee of the House and Senate. At the close of his third term of office in the Legislature, Arthur C. Greene chose to retire with a record of more than 35 years as a public servant to city, county and state. In retirement he responded again to public call and came to serve in a position with the Iowa Highway Patrol in Denison.

Being preceded in death by his wife, Zella, in 1952, and by their daughters, Marion in 1935, and Lois in 1956, Arthur C. Greene's final call came on June 10, 1958, when he was more than 77 years of age.
