Senator from the fortieth district, composed of Fayette and Allamakee counties, was born at Maynard, Iowa, January 1, 1877. A graduate of Maynard high school, business course at Upper Iowa University and dairy industry course at Iowa State college. Married December 25, 1901, to Lena M. Struthoff of Maynard, Iowa, and they have four children, Gladys June, John Howard, Irving Paul and Robert Dale. Has operated a 320 acre dairy farm in Fayette county continuously for 35 years specializing in pure bred Holstein Friesian cattle. Elected to the senate in 1936. A republican.
