CHARLES STEPHEN HOOK
MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare a suitable resolution commemorating the life, character, and public service of the late Honorable Charles Stephen Hook, begs leave to submit the following memorial:
Charles Stephen Hook was born near Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, October 14, 1864. He passed away August 9, 1951, at the age of 87 years.
In the spring of 1887 he came to Hancock county, Illinois, where be married Alice Anderson of Disco, Illinois, and they immediately moved to Taylor county, Iowa. In the spring of 1925, they moved to New Market.
Two children were born to them, Bertha Madden, who passed away in December 1931, and Byard L., living on the home farm. Mr. Hook engaged in cattle feeding and breeding of purebred stock.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, I.O.O.F. and Farmers Union.
Mr. Hook was elected Representative from Taylor county in 1930, and re-elected in 1932.
Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Fifty-eighth General Assembly of Iowa: That in the passing of the Honorable Charles Stephen Hook, the state has lost an honorable citizen and a faithful and useful public servant, and the House by this resolution would express its appreciation of his service, and tender its sympathy to the members of his family.
Be It Further Resolved: That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
