Senator from the twenty-third district, comprising Jackson county, was born near Baldwin, Jackson county, Iowa, December 6, 1862, son of Andrew J. and Nancy L. Tabor. He completed the Baldwin high school course at the age of seventeen. On November 27, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Gilmore, of Monmouth, Iowa. To this union was born five children: Howard, Clifford, Muriel, Dorothy, and Eloise, all of Baldwin. He has always followed the occupation of farming and stock feeding, and, with the assistance of his two sons, he operates successfully 1,370 acres of land in Jackson and Jones counties. The farm is well stocked with horses, cattle, hogs and sheep at the present time. He has never asked for or held any kind of office whatever prior to this one as senator. In politics he is a democrat.
