HONORABLE HARRY C. PAULSON

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee appointed to prepare suitable resolution commemorating the life, character and public services of the Honorable Harry C. Paulson, a former member of the General Assembly of Iowa, beg leave to submit the following:

Harry C. Paulson died at Clinton, Iowa, April 5th, 1937 at the age of 46 years.

He was born in Clinton county, Iowa, March 23, 1891. When nine years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm on the outskirts of the city. He was educated in the rural and city schools of Clinton county, attended Augustana College at Rock Island, Illinois, and also Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa. While at Ames he won a scholarship in a competitive judging contest. He owned his farm and was engaged in the business of dairy farming. In 1916, be married Miss Rachel Chapman, daughter of the Rev. R. K. Chapman, of De Witt, Iowa and has two sons, Eugene and Stanley.

Mr. Paulson was elected to township office in 1914-1916 and as director of the farm bureau in 1928. Interested in railroad work, he entered the race for railroad commissioner in the last election but was defeated. He is a member of the Congregational church and of the Masonic order. He was elected as State Representative in 1929 and served one term with distinct credit to himself and his country.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Forty-seventh General Assembly, That in the passing of the Honorable Harry C. Paulson, the state has lost a valuable and honored citizen, and the House would tender by this resolution, its sincere sympathy to the surviving members of his family in their sorrow, and

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be instructed to send an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
