Representative from Clinton county, was born in Clinton, Iowa, March 23, 1891. When nine years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm on the outskirts of the city. He was educated in the rural and city schools of Clinton county, attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, also Iowa State College at Ames. While at Ames he won a scholarship in a competitive judging contest. He owns his farm and is engaged in dairy farming. In 1916, he married Rachel Chapman, daughter of the Rev. R. K. Chapman of De Witt, Iowa, and has two sons, Eugene and Stanley. Elected to township office 1914-1916, and director of the farm bureau, 1928. He is a member of the Congregational church and of the Masonic order. Elected representative in 1928. A republican in politics.
