HONORABLE Z. S. RATLIFF

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare suitable resolutions commemorating the life, character, and public services of the Honorable Z. S. Ratliff, a former member of the Forty-first, Forty-second, Forty-second Extra, Forty-third, and Forty-fourth General Assemblies of Iowa, beg leave to submit the following:

Z. S. Ratliff was born in Henry county, Iowa, November 25, 1862, and passed away at his home July 26, 1936, at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 1 day.

He was married to Amelia Dorcis Krameling of Kahoka, Missouri, October 7, 1891. He is survived by his wife and one son, Paul.

Mr. Ratliff received his education in the rural schools and Whittier college. He lived on the farm most of his life and was also interested in banking. He was always active in Farm Bureau work and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Farm Bureau Federation. He was interested in church work and a member of the Presbyterian church.

Mr. Ratliff was a man of many friends, sterling qualities, and always forward looking, he worked to make his community a better place in which to live. He was honored and respected by all who knew him. No one ever doubted his integrity or sincerity of purpose.

Therefore, Be It Resolved, That in the passing of the Honorable Z. S. Ratliff, the state has lost a valuable and honored citizen, and the House would tender by this resolution, its sincere sympathy to the surviving members of his family in their sorrow, and

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and the Chief Clerk be instructed to send an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
