HONORABLE JAMES LEWIS RANDALL

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare suitable resolutions commemorating the life, character and public services of the Honorable James Lewis Randall, a former member of the General Assembly of Iowa, begs leave to submit the following:

James Lewis Randall was born October 14th, 1877 of Scotch-Irish parents in Lucas county, Iowa. Received his education in the county schools. Grew to young manhood on a farm, and has always followed agricultural pursuits. He was married October 15th, 1899, to Miss Marguerite Noland of Hardin county, Iowa. He was a member of the United Brethren church of Chariton, Iowa.

In the fall of 1910 he purchased a farm of his own, moving to this place in the spring of 1911. He was steward of the county farm four years, was elected to the county board of supervisors, serving in that office three years, and had a long career in public service.

James Lewis Randall was first elected to the legislature as a Republican representative from Lucas county in the year 1928 and re-elected in 1930.

James Lewis Randal is survived by his widow and a daughter, Frances Louise.

The book of life is closed for James Lewis Randall, but the deeds recorded there still live in the hearts of those who knew him, and our lives are richer because this man walked with us in friendship.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Forty-eighth General Assembly, That in the passing of the Honorable James Lewis Randall, the state has lost a valuable and honored citizen, and the House would tender, by this resolution, its sincere sympathy to the surviving members of his family in their sorrow, and

Be It Further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House, and that the Chief Clerk be instructed to send an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
