Representative from Polk county. Born at Troy Mills, Linn county, Iowa, February 24, 1889. Moved to Illinois with his parents in 1891. After the death of his parents he returned to Iowa in 1899. Worked on a farm in Linn and Buchanan counties until 1908. Was educated in Hampton and North Des Moines high schools. He completed his education at Drake university, University of Chicago and University of London. Was admitted to the bar in 1916. Enlisted in the infantry during the world war. Was commissioned a first lieutenant, he served two years and three months, was overseas fourteen months; service in Flanders, Argonne, St. Mihiel offensives. Has engaged in the practice of law in Des Moines since his return from service in 1919. Is a member of the American Legion and Woodman lodge. He was married to Marguerite Lambert, of Nutley, N.J., in 1921. Is a republican in politics.
