Senator from the Forty-ninth district, composed of Lyon, Osceola, Sioux and O'Brien counties, was born on a farm in Grundy county, Iowa, January 20, 1887, of German parentage. Attended rural school and graduated from high school and commercial college. Read law one year. Became cashier of the Security Savings bank, Little Rock, Iowa, at age of 20, and was elected president at age of 24. The youngest bank cashier or bank president ever elected in the state. He is married and has two children, both girls. He is now president of the Security Savings bank, Little Rock, Iowa; president of the White State bank, White, S.D.; president of the Reliable Land & Investment Co. (incorporated), Little Rock, Iowa. A stockholder in several other banks. Is a member and officer of the Congregational church and for thirteen years has been superintendent of Sunday school. Elected senator in 1920. The youngest member of the senate of the thirty-ninth general assembly. A republican in politics.
