Representative from Buchanan county, was born on a farm in that county on August 17, 1875. Received his education in the rural and graded schools of the county and in Lenox college, Hopkinton, Iowa. He has spent his entire life on a farm. Was married on June 1, 1904, to Miss Mable L. Thompson of Buchanan county. To them were born two children, John W. and Ruth Gertrude. Has held office of township assessor, trustee, and is at present director of Winthrop State Bank, Winthrop Co-operative Elevator Company, Buchanan County Farm Bureau, and Winthrop Telephone Company. Has been on local school board twenty-three years. Elected representative 1920. Member of Odd Fellow, Masonic and M.W.A. lodges. Presbyterian in religion. Republican in politics.
