Senator from the Fifth district, composed of the counties of Decatur, Ringgold and Union, was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, May 12, 1865. Moved with his parents to Ringgold county in 1867, and located on a farm near Mt. Ayr, receiving his education in the common schools. Has been actively engaged in farming and stock raising all his life. Held the office of township clerk for eleven years. Is vice-president and director of the Mt. Ayr State Bank. Was a representative in the thirty-fourth general assembly and elected to the senate in 1916. A democrat in politics.
