Adams County
Senator from the Sixth district, composed of Adams and Taylor counties, was born in Guthrie county, Iowa, January 28, 1876. Lived on the farm with parents, and graduated from the Coon Rapids High School in 1896. He took a business course at the Capital City Commercial College, graduating in May, 1897. In 1903 he became cashier of the Adams County Bank at Nodaway, Iowa, and advanced to the office of vice president on January 1, 1919. On January 14, 1919, was elected director and cashier of the First National Bank at Villisca, Iowa. He has held the offices of town treasurer, school treasurer, M.E. church treasurer, cemetery treasurer, and Masonic Lodge treasurer. During the great world war he, as township chairman, handled the Liberty Loan, Red Cross, Y.M.C.A. and other drives for funds asked for by the United States government. Elected state senator on the republican ticket in November, 1918.
