WILLIAM G. VAN DER PLOEG, legislator and jurist, died at Knoxville, Iowa, April 21, 1948; born near Otley, Iowa, on a farm and lived in Marion county all his life; graduated from the law college of the State University of Iowa in 1903, and served in the Iowa House of Representatives in 1918; also as district court judge from 1922 to 1926; a veteran of World War I and practiced law in Knoxville for many years, retiring in 1947 because of ill health; first president of the Knoxville Rotary club in 1940 and also a member of the Masons; survived by his wife, two brothers and four sisters.
