Senator from the twentieth district, composed of Muscatine and Louisa counties, was born in Muscatine, Muscatine county, Iowa, October 10, 1871. His parents were Bernard Henry Eversmeyer and Magdalena Kuechmann Eversmeyer. Both parents were natives of Germany, emigrating to the United States in 1851. He received his education in the Muscatine public schools, parochial schools, Muscatine Business College, and the law department of the S.U.I. When a young man he learned the printer's trade in the office of the Muscatine Journal. In the year 1890 he left the Journal office and at the request of his father took up work in his insurance, loans and real estate office. In 1894 he entered the law department of the S.U.I. from which he graduated in 1896. He then started in business for himself in law, loans, real estate and insurance. Served as justice of the peace in the city of Muscatine for a period of six years, 1901-1906 inclusive. In May, 1910, he formed a business partnership with his sister, Miss. Louise, who is also a graduate of the law department of S.U.I., under the firm name of F. W. and Louise Eversmeyer. In addition to his business he is interested in various enterprises in Muscatine and is one of the directors of the German-American Savings Bank. He is a member of the Masonic Order, the Elks, and Yeomen. Was married to Miss Harriet Kemptner of Muscatine June 28, 1910. Elected senator in 1914. A republican in politics.
