One of the representatives from Dubuque county, was born in LaFayette county, Wisconsin, May 13, 1872, lived on a farm until 1890 when he went to Dubuque, Iowa and attended Bayless Business College, graduating in 1891, then learned the machine trade and worked in the various shops in Dubuque until 1905 when he engaged in the wholesale and retail liquor business until 1916. Since that time has been commercial traveler. Married August 16, 1899 to Miss Winifred Kennedy. To them have been born four children. Elected representative in 1916. A democrat in politics.
