Decatur County
Representative from Decatur county, was born in Clinton county, Ohio, of American parentage. Came to Iowa in 1880. Was educated in the common schools and attended Hedding College in Illinois. Lived on a farm until he was eighteen years old. Was engaged in the railroad service as telegraph operator and agent for nine years. Has been a resident of Van Wert, Decatur county, since 1892. Was engaged in the grain and lumber business for ten years. For the last eight years has devoted his time to dealing in real estate and farming. Has for eighteen years continuously held the office of township clerk, town clerk, councilman and mayor. Was elected representative in 1912. Re-elected in 1914. A democrat in politics.
