Albert D. Nye
Taylor County
Senator from the Sixth district, composed of Adams and Taylor counties, was born on a farm near Chester, Howard county, Iowa, March 1, 1869, of American parentage, his father being born in Massachusetts, his mother in Pennsylvania. They were among the early settlers in Howard county. His parents moved to Dakota and settled on a claim when he was a small boy. Becoming tired of the life on a prairie farm, he left at an early age to learn telegraphy; his first position being that of operator for the C.M. & St. P. Ry. at Running Water, Dakota. In 1888 he accepted a position as operator with the C.G.W. Ry. (then the C. St.P. & K.C. Ry.) and continued with that company for twenty years, filling positions as agent and operator at several different places in Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri; the last sixteen years as agent at Athelstan, Iowa. While agent at this place, he was elected county treasurer in 1908, and re-elected in 1910. He was married March 19, 1893, to Miss Nettie Scott, also a native of Iowa, having been born in Taylor county, and to them have been born two sons and one daughter. Elected senator in 1912. A republican in politics.
