HONORABLE JOHN L. BROWN

MR. SPEAKER: Your committee, appointed to prepare suitable resolutions commemorating the life, character and public services of the Honorable John L. Brown, a former member of the General Assembly of Iowa, beg leave to submit the following:

John L. Brown was born in Mahaska county, Iowa, May 25, 1861, and died at his home near Rose Hill, Iowa, on May 17, 1931. Mr. Brown had spent his entire life in and near Rose Hill, having been engaged in farming the greater part of his life, and had also been associated with his brother in the hardware business for a number of years.

Mr. Brown was elected representative from Mahaska county and was in the Thirty-fifth General Assembly, and was active in the session. He was characterized for his honesty and upright business methods, a man of strong convictions; a very staunch democrat and was a zealous worker for his party.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Winnie Brown, one brother and two sisters, numerous other relatives and hosts of friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 19, 1931, and burial was at Rose Hill, Iowa.

Therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Forty-fifth General Assembly, That in the passing of the Honorable John L. Brown the state has lost an honored and valuable citizen, a man of high ideals in brotherly living and useful citizenship.

Be It Therefore Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the Journal of the House and that the Chief Clerk be directed to forward an enrolled copy to the family of the deceased.
