HON. ISAAC G. SCOTT
MR. SPEAKER—Your committee appointed to prepare resolutions commemorating the life, character and public service of Isaac G. Scott, beg leave to submit the following report:
The Honorable Isaac G. Scott, who was heretofore a member of the House of Representatives from Fremont county, Iowa, during the ThirtyÂfifth General Assembly, departed this life September 21st, 1921, and
Whereas, His record as a man, a legislator, a public official and a citizen, has been of the highest character, and
Whereas, it is fitting that we should recognize in some fitting manner the passing of this distinguished citizen.
Therefore, Be It Resolved, By the House of Representatives of the State of Iowa, that in the death of Isaac G. Scott the State of Iowa has suffered a distinct loss.
Mr. Isaac G. Scott was born August 9, 1850, in Boone County, Indiana, of American parentage and Scotch Irish descent. When he was two years old his parents moved to Illinois and settled on a farm in North Henderson township, Mercer county. He received his education in the rural schools and has always lived on a farm and been engaged in farming. Moved to Iowa in 1876 and located on a farm in Fremont county. Was married to Miss Anna High of Fremont county in December, 1879. Had four children, two boys and two girls, who with the wife and mother still survive him. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Masonic order, was township assessor for fifteen years and school treasurer for twelve years. Elected representative in 1912. A democrat in politics.
Mr. Scott was generous, big hearted and optimistic always, a hater of sham and a lover of integrity and right, a lovable neighbor, a kind husband and father, whose life has been such as to commend his example as an inspiration to those who follow after.
Therefore, Be It Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon the Journal of the House and that the chief clerk be directed to send an engrossed copy thereof to the widow of the deceased.
