Representative from Fremont county, was born August 9, 1850, in Boone county, Indiana, of American parentage, and Scotch-Irish descent. When two years old his parents moved to Illinois, and settled on a farm in North Henderson township, Mercer county. He received his education in the rural schools and has always lived on a farm, and has been engaged in farming. Moved to Iowa May, 1876, and located on a farm in Fremont county. Was married to Miss Anna High of Fremont county, in December, 1879. Has four children, two girls and two boys. Is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Masonic order. Was township assessor for fifteen years, and school treasurer twelve years. Elected representative in 1912. A democrat in politics.
