THOMAS WATSON GRIGGS was born in Davenport, Iowa, February 15, 1875, and died in that city October 1, 1930. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Henry Griggs. He was graduated from the Davenport High School, studied in Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire, and was graduated from Harvard University with the degree of B. S. From 1903 to 1910 he was secretary-treasurer of the Iowa Publishing Company of Davenport. For some years was secretary-treasurer of the Security Investment Company, and from 1919 to 1927 was president of the Davenport Water Company. He was a director in the American Commercial and Savings Bank, and also had several other important business connections. In 1910 he was elected representative and was reelected in 1912, serving in the Thirty-fourth and Thirty-fifth general assemblies. During the World War he rendered patriotic service as secretary of Draft Board No. 2 of Davenport.
