Representative from Scott county, was born February 15, 1875, at Davenport, Iowa, of, American-born parents. Attended the public schools of Davenport and graduated from the high school in 1895. After a year of preparatory work at Phillip's Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire, he entered the Lawrence Scientific School of Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, graduating from the department of general science with the class of 1899. From May 1, 1903, to August 1, 1910, he was secretary-treasurer of the Iowa Publishing Company. He is now secretary-treasurer of the Security Investment Company and a director in The Muscatine North & South Railway Company and The Colfax Northern Railway. He is an associate member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers, a member of the National Geographic Society, the Davenport Commercial Club, the Davenport Turner Society and the Davenport Shooting Society. Elected representative in 1910. Re-elected in 1912. A democrat in politics.
