SAMUEL M. MCCLEERY was born at Somanauk, Illinois, September 26, 1852, and died at Washington, Iowa, February 12, 1918. He was brought by his people to Washington County, Iowa, in 1864, where he lived until his death. He followed the vocation of farmer and stock dealer. In 1900 he was elected a member of the board of supervisors, and was re-elected, serving in all nine years. In 1908 he was elected representative and re-elected two years later, serving in the Thirty-third and Thirty-fourth general assemblies.
