Representative from Washington county, was born of Scotch descent near Somonauk, De Kalb county, Illinois, September 26, 1852. Was educated in common school with one year at Xenia, Ohio. Was raised on the farm. Came to Iowa in 1874 and continued at farming and stock shipping till elected supervisor, which office he has filled the past five years. Was married December 11, 1878, to M. Evaline Lincoln. Has one son, Howard L. McCleery. Elected Representative in 1908 and re-elected in 1910. A Republican in politics.
