Butler County
Representative from Butler county, was born at Granby, Province of Quebec, Canada, May 13, 1855. His parents, who were both born in Canada of Scotch-Irish stock, moved to Iowa in 1855 and settled in Butler county in 1856. His education was acquired in the rural school and at an early age he engaged in farming, which occupation he followed until 1893, when he rented his farm and moved to town. He was married in 1880 and has two daughters. He has held the offices of township assessor, school director, member city council, and for nine years a member of the board of supervisors. He was elected to the Legislature in 1903, serving in the Thirtieth and Thirty-first General Assemblies, and was re-elected November 6, 1906. A Republican in politics.
