MR. SPEAKER: Your committee appointed to submit suitable resolutions respecting the life, character and public service of the Hon. A. W. Buchanan of Wapello county, beg leave to submit the following:
WHEREAS, The Hon. A. W. Buchanan was an honored and respected member of the Twenty-eighth, Twenty-ninth and Thirtieth General Assemblies departed this life at his home in the city of Ottumwa on the 11th day of June 1904 and whereas we recognize the fidelity and integrity with which he discharged his duty in every station in life, his efficient and able public career, his private life and character above reproach, his manly bearing and courteous manners, gained for him the confidence, respect and esteem of his neighbors, friends and those most closely associated with him in every walk of life. Therefore be it
Resolved, That in his death the family are bereaved of a kind and affectionate husband, the community in which he resided an honest and upright man and the State and Nation a useful and honorable citizen.
Resolved, that we extend to the family of the deceased who are bowed with grief and sorrow our earnest sympathy in this their sad affliction and request the clerk of this House to transmit an engrossed copy of these resolutions to the bereaved widow and that the same be spread upon the Journal of this House as a part of the records thereof.
