Senator from the Forty-ninth District, composed of the counties of Sioux, O'Brien, Lyon and Osceola, was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, of German parentage. He received his education in the district school. Was married to Annie Eckman in 1875; has five daughters and four sons. Moved to Iowa in 1883; is engaged in general farming and breeding of fine stock. Was elected to the State Senate in 1903, and served during the Thirtieth, Thirty-first and Thirty-second General Assemblies.
