COL. RICHARD B. WYCKOFF, a member from Jackson county of the first Constitutional Convention, which assembled at Iowa City, Oct. 7, 1844, more than fifty-two years ago, died in Lyons, on the 25th of January. He was an influential member of the Convention, serving on the Committee on county organization. He was born in Delaware county, New York, in 1816. He removed to Michigan in 1836, and when Iowa Territory was organized in 1838, he came further west, settling in Jackson county. After his service in the Constitutional Convention of 1844, he was elected a member of the Third General Assembly—1850-51. He held various county offices, during his residence in Jackson county, among which were recorder, treasurer and probate judge. In 1872 he removed to Lyon which was his home up to the time of his death.
