Born Mary 29, 1806, in Virginia. Settled in Cedar county, Iowa, 1836, and came to Dakota county, in 1870. He located on the old William Silence place at the bluffs eight miles south-west of Dakota City, where he lived an honest upright life, honored and respected by all who knew him. Mr. Taylor represented Cedar county in the Third Iowa General Assembly, 1850. He married Miss Jane Griffith in September 1824 in North Carolina.
