Adolphus Salmon

Born June 12, 1802, in Hamburg, Germany. He was highly educated in languages and music but because of commercial reverses he and his brothers came to America landing at New Orleans in 1828. There he taught music. In 1837 he moved to West Point, Iowa, where he established a grocery business and later added a pharmacy. He was mayor of West Point and also served as postmaster. He was elected to represent Lee County in the Third General Assembly, 1850. Mr. Salmon was united in marriage to Mary Eichorn February 11, 1841, in Lee County, Iowa. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
