Born in the year of 1855, at Orfordsvllle, Wisconsin. He left from there to settle at Taopi, Minnesota, in1876, where he ran a drug store. From there he came to Forest City in 1881 and opened up another drug store. He studied for a veterinary degree in 1887. He was at one time state representative of Winnebago and Worth Counties. He was appointed state veterinarian which office he held for 9 years. He was also president at one time of the state veterinarian association. He was a member of the Synod Lutheran Church. He was married to Matilda Peachy.
