The Twenty-third General Assembly claimed the Hon. S. B. Powers of Kellogg, Jasper county, as a member of the lower house, representing the republicans of his county. This session he represents the same county, but a different party. Like Senator Gorrell, he has united with the fusionists, and by them and the democrats was last fall elected to the house. Mr. Powers is 47 years old, of which number of years he has lived thirty in Iowa. He is one of the representative farmers of his district, with a host of personal and political friends throughout the state.
