James M. Farley
Kossuth County
The democrats of Kossuth county send to the house this winter one of their best citizens, valued as such by democrats and republicans alike. The Hon. J. M. Farley of Whittemore, was born in Lyons Walwarth county, Wis., May 19, 1844. He was married October 19, 1873, to Miss Theresa J. Dutcher. They have three children, two daughters and one son. Mr. Farley is a member of the Masonic, Knights of Pythias and A. O. U. W. lodges. He has no religious preferences, is a member of no church. This is the first office he has ever held outside of the township and school board. He is interested in no special matters of legislation, but comes to the house qualified to serve his constituents on any matter that may come up. Mr. Farley is a prominent business man, actively engaged in the hardware, lumber, live stock, and coal business. He is also vice-president of the Whittemore State bank, and director of a private bank of that town. His early educational advantages were limited, but he has profited by the practical study of business.
