Senator Whipple offered the following resolution, which was read:

MR. PRESIDENT—Your committee appointed to draft resolutions on the death of Hon. Jacob J. Mosnat, late of Belle Plaine, Iowa, beg leave to submit the following report:

Hon. Jacob J. Mosnat, late of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and formerly a Senator from the forty-fifth senatorial district, was born in Bohemia, September 28, 1849. He came to America in 1853, and to Belle Plaine, Iowa, in 1870. He graduated from the law department of the State University of Iowa in June, 1874, was a member of the board of education in·his adopted city for fifteen years and a member of the Senate for the years 1890 to 1894 inclusive. He was an able lawyer, a faithful, energetic and patriotic citizen. He loved his home, was courteous, generous and tolerant. The world is better for his having lived in it. Therefore, in view of the life, character, and eminent services of the deceased, be it

Resolved, That we extend to his family our most sincere sympathy in the loss of a devoted husband and kind father.

Resolved, That these resolutions be entered on the journal of the Senate and that an engrossed copy be presented to the widow of the deceased by the Secretary of the Senate.
