Born in Bohemia September 28, 1849. He came to the United States with his parents in 1853, settled in Weston, Mo., where they remained until 1862, when they moved to Wisconsin and to Benton County in 1870. He studied law with Johnson & Tewksbury and afterward attended the law department of the Iowa State University where he graduated in June, 1874. He speaks Bohemian, English and German fluently; began the practice of law here in October, 1874. Mr. Mosnatt was elected to the State Senate from Benton County and served in the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Iowa General Assemblies, 1890-92. He was married November 10, 1875, to Julia E. Ricker, March 3, 1855. He served one year as City Attorney.
