Born on February 22, 1842 in Beloit, Wisconsin, and died June 17, 1927 in Independence, Missouri. He was a Justice of the Peace in Pottawattamie County, Iowa in 1876. He was a lawyer and State Representative of Pottawatomie County in the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth General Assemblies of Iowa. He was married to Clarissa E. Greene on July 29, 1870 in Tabor, Iowa. They had four children.
