At the age of 10 years he went with his parents to Kenosha county, Wisconsin, where he remained until 1874, when he settled at Bristow, his present home. During the war he enlisted in company C, 39th Wisconsin volunteer infantry. He was taken sick at Memphis,Tennessee, and was honorably discharged from the service. Since living at Bristow he followed carpenter work for many years, until he engaged in the lumber business and is now one of the largest dealers in the county. He has the record of a very clean life and is at all times ready to help and give to all good works.
